Traveled from SFO to Delhi in December via Dubai. I traveled with 2 kids aged 7 and 1. Emirates has new planes so that is good. The economy seats are comfortable and they have a great in-seat entertainment system. We took 4 middle seats together so the kids could stretch their legs and get some sleep.
The flight was on time from SFO to Dubai and then to Delhi. Took a stopover in Dubai and its a great city to visit. The people are friendly and its clean and very safe. The city has some amazing malls but stuff is very expensive as compared to US.
The in flight service is above average though can be better if they need to compete with Singapore and Cathay.
They do not have milk for kids but have milk powder and also baby food like Gerber etc. Fruits are not there in economy but when i asked for my kid, the hostess got from business class so that was cool. They have kids meals option which has stuff like nuggets, corn, veggies etc. and candy. They also give small bags with toys, color material etc for kids. The entertainment system has lots of cartoons and games so that sure will keep the kid busy if he/she is that age.
The experience on trip back was not that great due to weather delays. The flight from Delhi to Dubai had to be canceled due to fog in Delhi but we had to sit in the plane for 6 hours. The Lead flight attendant on the plane was quite rude when people pressed him to de-plane so people can wait at airport instead of cramped up on the plane. That lead to missed connections and re-scheduling via New York instead of getting a direct flight to San Francisco due to busy travel season. It turned out to be quite an ordeal and some of the ground staff was very helpful & understanding while some was not so much.
Overall i think the quality of an organization is seen when things go wrong and i was not very impressed with Emirates handling of the situation.
As such the experience was mixed and i will look at other options such as Singapore or Cathay before i book on Emirates again.

Traveled to Hyd in Nov/Dec last year.
Airline is good.
No Milk for Kids in the Airline. When we requested multiple times they only had Powder Milk and that too a very bad quality. Other than this one milk issue the rest of the stuff was good. Good entertainment features and comfortable seats.
Be prepared to travel 16+ Hrs in one go. Lot of people overlook this, It is not easy to stay put in one place for 16 hrs. Kids will not like to be stuck like that that long.
If you have a booking where you have to stay in Dubai for more than 8 Hrs then you get free accommodation and food vouchers in a Transit hotel in Dubai and you can make arrangements yourself for sightseeing. I believe the free accommodation is only when the airlines is not able to accommodate you to the connecting flight within reasonable time ( less than 8 Hrs). If you are doing a break journey by choice you may not get free accommodation. Please check with the Airlines. You have to remember to pick up your hotel and food vouchers in the Airport at the time of check-in.
The transit hotel is very very big and pretty nice and has buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks are available 24/7.
Prefer Emirates to most other airlines.

Great service, on time, decent food, courteous staff, good entertainment. What else can one expect? :). Was overall extremely satisfied. The wait in Dubai is also not long just about 3 hours while going and about 2 hours during the return. They give lots of toys, coloring books etc to the kids to keep them busy and also had good kids entertainment shows to watch. |

The flight departing Mumbai is at 4;30am ..which is when most international flights leave Mumbai early morning hours. Practically ruins a complete night of sleep. |
